Tricorder Tech: NIH software assembles complete genome sequences on-demand
Researchers at the National Institutes of Health have released a new software tool that allows them to create truly complete genome sequences (i.e. without gaps) from different species.
Verkko is a software that makes it easier and more affordable to assemble complete genome sequences. Nature Biotechnology published a description of the software today.
Verkko grew out of the assembly of the first gapless sequence in the human genome, which was completed last year by the Telomere-to-Telomere consortium (T2T), a collaborative project that is funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute, part NIH.
