The Gorbunova Aging Research Center has seen promising results from a clinical trial of SIRT6 activator.

Clinical trial of longevity sirtuin teases promising results

The frailty test results of the SIRT6 activator are encouraging for New York’s Gorbunova Aging Research Center.

SIRT6, also known as \”longevity Sirtuin\”, has made quite a name for himself.

The protein SIRT6 has a very important role. It is essential for normal base excision repairs and double-strand breaks repair of DNA damage. Damage that can cause genomic instability which contributes to aging. These repairs decrease with age, but can be boosted by SIRT6 [1].

SIRT6 also has another longevity string. In 2019, Vera Gorbunova and her team at the University of Rochester demonstrated that overexpression of SIRT6 leads to an extended lifespan. Researchers also found that the opposite was also true: a lack of SIRT6 could lead to premature aging.
