The functioning of the organs slowly deteriorates as we age. While many past studies have examined the effects of ageing on the body, brain, and cognition, it is still not fully understood the neural mechanisms or environmental factors that accelerate or slow these effects.
Both the immune system and nervous system play an important role in controlling organs within the body. Past findings have shown that both systems undergo significant changes as we age.
According to neuroscientific research, as the nervous system gets older, so does the way the body controls its immune response. However, it is still unclear how the aging of the nervous system affects the immune response and its impact on brain functioning.
