Labeling aging as a disorder is misleading and harmful. It is toxic to pathologize a universal phenomenon. Ageism is rampant in our youth-obsessed culture. It’s prevalent in Hollywood, on the job market and even during presidential elections. Calling aging a \”disease\” doesn’t answer the question of why we age. Scientists should not call aging a \”disease\” but instead identify and treat underlying processes which cause aging, and age-related cell deterioration.

What’s the underlying cause of heart disease, Alzheimer’s, diabetes and cancer?
