Scientists Launch Synthetic Biology Project for Virus-Resistant, Super Cells

Scientists Launch Synthetic Biology Project for Virus-Resistant super Cells

About 200 distinguished scientists gathered in Boston recently. Their agenda? Their agenda?

The secret isn’t a super-soldier solution. The team relies on tools from synthetic biological to read a cell’s blueprint and rewrite large portions of the genome in order to unlock these superpowers.

\”There are very good reasons to believe we can create cells that will be completely resistant against all known viruses,\” Dr. Jef BOEKE, a geneticist from New York University who is also the co-leader for this project said. It should be possible to add other traits to the cells, such as resistance to cancer and prions.
