A study that accidentally revealed biological age could be reversed
New research suggests that scientists may be able not only to slow down the aging process, but even reverse it Benjamin Button style.
In a California study, volunteers were given three drugs over a period of one year: a growth hormone, two diabetes medications and a combination. Scientists were testing the drugs with the hope of regenerating thymus.
According to Nature, after further analysis they discovered that participants lost on average 2.5 years in their \”epigenetic timer,\” which is measured by analyzing the marks on genomes. The immune systems of the participants also showed signs rejuvenation.
