This area of research is gaining more attention after a recent breakthrough experiment: rats treated with a blood plasma mixture known as E5 had their effective biological age measured by epigenetic clocks, involving 593 tissue samples. Recent breakthroughs in this field of research are gaining more attention. Rats treated with E5, a blood plasma mix, had their epigenetic clocks measure their biological effective age. This involved 593 tissue samples. The epigenetic ages for blood, liver, and heart tissue were reduced by half. A smaller reduction, but still statistically significant, was seen in the epigenetic age for the hypothalamus. The experiment has been hailed as the most dramatic age-reversal in mammals.
The lead designer, Dr Harold Katcher presented his findings and theories on Saturday, 18th September. He also discussed his expectations for future research.
