Dr. Steven Austad (https://www.stevenaustad.com/) is Distinguished Professor and Protective Life Endowed Chair in Healthy Aging Research, Department of Biology, University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), and Scientific Director of the American Federation for Aging Research (https://www.uab.edu/cas/biology/people/faculty/steven-n-austad).
Austad is also the Director of the Nathan Shock Centers Coordinating Center and the Co-Director of Nathan Shock Centers Coordinating Center. He also serves on the Executive Board of the National Institute on Aging Research Centers Collaborative Network.
Dr. Austad has been awarded multiple prestigious research awards and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
Dr. Austad is currently conducting research to better understand the causes of aging. The goal is to develop medical interventions which will slow down the age-related decline in human health.
Dr. Austad has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific publications on aging, from cells to society. He is also the author \”Why We Aging: What Science is Discovering About the Body’s Life Journey\”. His new book, \”Methuselah’s Zoo – What Nature Can Teach us about Living Longer and Healthier Lives\”, is due out in April 2022.
