Dr. Kara Spiller, PhD (https://drexel.edu/biomed/faculty/core/SpillerKara/) is Associate Professor in the Biomaterials and Regenerative Medicine Laboratory at Drexel University, in Philadelphia.

Dr. Spiller earned her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree, and doctorate in biomedical technology from Drexel University. She conducted her doctoral work in the Shanghai Key Tissue Engineering Laboratory and the Biomaterials & Drug Delivery Laboratory, both at Drexel.

She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Minho, Guimaraes in Portugal, after completing her PhD. In this role, she worked in the Biomaterials Biodegradables and Biomimetics (3Bs) Research Group. She was also a Postdoctoral scientist at Columbia University.

Dr. Spiller conducts research on the design of immunomodulatory biomaterials for use in bone tissue engineering. Her research interests include biomaterial design, cell-biomaterial interaction, and international engineering education.
