Elon Musk’s Neuralink: The ‘Fitbit of your Brain’

Neuralink unveils the \”Fitbit of your brain\”
Elon Musk’s Neuralink shows a working brain implanted computer and promises future benefits.

Elon Musk’s company Neuralink is researching ways to use direct brain interfacing as a therapy for chronic, debilitating conditions. It also explores how technological augmentation can expand and develop human brain capabilities.

Longevity. Technology: Neuralink has been reticent about its progress, despite receiving $158m in funding. Of that, $100m comes from Musk [1]. Tonight’s live broadcast included misbehaving animals (I’m looking right at you, Gertrude!) Elon Musk continues to push the boundaries of technology and brains at his \”speed of thinking\” (I’m looking at you, Gertrude!)

Before today’s news, the company announced in July of last year that they were working on a device \”like a sewing machine\” which could implant extremely thin threads (4 to 6mm) in the brain. The company demonstrated a system which reads information from a laboratory rat using 1500 electrodes, and announced that they plan to begin experiments with humans by 2020 [2].
