Neuralink unveils the \”Fitbit of your brain\”
Elon Musk’s Neuralink shows a working brain implanted computer and promises future benefits.
Elon Musk’s company Neuralink is researching ways to use direct brain interfacing as a therapy for chronic, debilitating conditions. It also explores how technological augmentation can expand and develop human brain capabilities.
Longevity. Technology: Neuralink has been reticent about its progress, despite receiving $158m in funding. Of that, $100m comes from Musk [1]. Before today’s news, the company announced in July of last year that they were working on a device \”like a sewing machine\” which could implant extremely thin threads (4 to 6mm) in the brain. The company demonstrated a system which reads information from a laboratory rat using 1500 electrodes, and announced that they plan to begin experiments with humans by 2020 [2].
