A study finds evidence of a positive impact on telomere length.

A new study shows that meditation on loving-kindness can slow down cellular ageing

In new research published in Psychoneuroendocrinology, scientists have shown that loving-kindness meditation has a positive impact at the cellular level. The study looked at how different meditations affected telomeres, a measure of physiological ageing.

Telomeres on our chromosomes are the caps at the ends of DNA that help with DNA replication. They get shorter as time goes by.

\”Biological age and chronological age are not the same.\” The authors of the study explain that the former is measured by years and the latter by telomeres. Telomeres are progressively shortened with cell division, or aging, in general. However, they can be lengthened by the enzyme, telomerase.
